What is Organic?
The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) defines organic as “a labeling term that denotes products produced under the authority of the Organic Foods Production Act.” The word organic (as in organic chemistry or organic life-form) means “carbon-based.” Because all life forms on earth are carbon-based, it stands to reason that organic farming uses only materials that come from the earth. The Organic Foods Production Act’s main guidelines, according to the NOBS “are to use materials and practices that enhance the ecological balance of natural systems and that integrate the parts of the farming system into an ecological whole.” For more information, see The Definition of Organic
What is Bio Dynamic?
Bio Dynamic farming, in its conception, was the response to the degradation of the soil, seed, plant, and animal life after the advent of synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. Bio Dynamic farming includes practices such as composting, using manure as fertilizer, companion planting, and crop rotation. The central goal is to make the soil as nutrient-rich as possible, and everything that sprouts from it the best possible quality in a manner that complements and works with the environment. For more information, see The Definition of Bio Dynamic
How do you know your products are certified organic?
All of the farms that supply our ingredients have received their USDA organic certification and are held to the highest standards of purity. We want to know that what we order is what we get and what you use every day. For more information, see Organic Labeling and Marketing Information
What is the difference between the Pure and Color lines?
While all of our products are color safe, the Color Awakening hair bath contains higher concentrations of color-fast oils and extracts that help maintain healthy color-treated hair.
What are the uses for Harmonic Healing Oil?
The Harmonic Healing Oil is an all-purpose oil filled with anti-oxidants, anti-microbials, and anti-inflammatory. It can be used in massage, on cuticles, scalps, swelling, slight abrasions, etc. These statements are not certified by the United States Food and Drug Administration and are in no way a substitute for medical advice.
Is this safe for kids? Dogs? Velociraptors?
Of course! In fact, some baby and dog shampoos and conditioners can irritate the sensitive skin of your children and animals, even if the packaging claims to be safe or made for sensitive skin. Innersense employees use the hairbath for their sensitive skinned dogs and give very positive reviews.

"I can't use your products; I'm allergic to fragrance/color."
Please read the labels. We take pride in the fact that none of our products contain harsh chemicals, even artificial fragrance and colors. We understand that these chemicals can irritate skin and cause allergies so we don’t use them. All of our products are scented with essential oils (many of which are hypoallergenic, or anti-allergenic) and there are no artificial colors in our products.
I ordered a product and it came in cardboard and packing peanuts! I thought this was supposed to be environmentally friendly.
Our peanuts are made from corn starch. You could eat them if you wanted to (but please don’t; you don’t know what bacteria touched them and neither do we.) The peanuts and the cardboard are all compostable and recyclable. So, feel free to throw your packing materials in your composter at home, they’ll make excellent worm food and fertilizer for your organically grown plants.
